Enrollment Requirements

CUNY Proficiency Requirements

Prior to registering, Hunter College students must demonstrate proficiency in the basic skills of reading, writing and mathematics.

Non-degree students may attempt up to 12 credits without taking the CUNY Skills Assessment Test, unless a placement test is required for a particular course. However, the test is required once 12 credits have been attempted.

Health Requirements

If you plan to register for six or more credits, you must provide proof of immunization to Immunization Records prior to registration. For details and instructions on how to submit your documents, please visit the Immunization Records website.

PREREQUISITE COURSEWORK

Some courses have prerequisite requirements that must be successfully completed before registering. You may find prerequisites for each course by visiting the course description in the online catalog.

The Office of Admissions does not evaluate prior college coursework for students in a non‐degree classification. In this case, course approval must be obtained from the individual academic department.

Only the academic department has the authority to grant permission into courses requiring prerequisites.

Tuition and Fees

In order to maintain your enrollment, you must pay your tuition and fees by the deadlines posted on the Registration and Payment Schedule. All course registration and tuition payments must be completed online via your CUNYfirst account. Tuition bills are not mailed.
